Sensei Brian Bentham started his karate training in the mid seventies under the guidance of Sensei Billy Higgins K.U.G.B , He started at the height of the Bruce Lee era when he saw Enter the dragon at his local cinema. "Yes" I know you are going to say that was Kung Fu but nevertheless it intrigued Brian so much that he sought out his nearest martial arts class. Brian had heard about a karate club operating from a church hall in Wigan town centre , he went along to watch a class and was hooked from that moment. He joined there and then !!
I still after 30 plus years enjoy my karate , there is always a challenge but having put my body the the mill over the years it takes me a little bit longer to get up to speed. I love teaching and seeing my students come through the gradings it's another way of measuring your capabilites as a instructor, I teach children from the tender age of 5 and firmly beleive that we have some up and coming karate stars within our clubs.
I can also say that I know each and every one of my students by their first name , something that was'nt the norm when I started. There where a lot of students that didn't last very long because of the hard and sometimes brutal training regimes so getting to know each student by their first names was not a priority for the instructor.
I think it is important to me so each student feels they are important.
